The Amy Beth Callaghan Pop Warner Spirit Award
The Amy Beth Callaghan Pop Warner Spirit Award was established by the Franklin Chargers Pop Warner Association in the fall of 1996. Amy died in a car accident on January 21, 1996. Each year in honor of Amy's memory an award is presented to an A squad cheerleader.
Amy was a Pop Warner cheerleader while in elementary school and participated throughout the entire program, finishing with A squad before entering Franklin High School and joining their varsity team. In her senior year Amy was voted Captain of her team.
Throughout Amy's high school years she continued to dedicate her time to the Chargers program instructing and coaching various squads that her younger sister was on. Amy wanted to help the younger cheerleaders because she felt that the girls were doing something they loved to do and would one day continue on to cheer for the Franklin High team just as Amy had done herself.
The Franklin Chargers Pop Warner Association contacted Amy's parents to ask if they could give out a scholarship in Amy&'s memory. Her parents were deeply touched to have this scholarship given to honor the memory of their young, beautiful and dedicated daughter Amy.
Each October since the autumn of 1996, an A squad cheerleader who consistently exemplifies team spirit, leadership and camaraderie among her peers is chosen to receive this special award.
A special plaque with Amy's picture is hanging in the Franklin High School lobby. This plaque lists each of the below recipients name. We are very proud of each and every one of these girls.
